A majority of French having seen or heard of the television interview of Nicolas Sarkozy Sunday did not find convincing, according to two surveys released Monday *. They are 54%, according to BVA Public Senate, or 55%, according to Odoxa Le Parisien-Aujourd’hui en France . According Odoxa, two-thirds of French (67% against 33%) think that if Nicolas Sarkozy back in politics, “it’s more of a taste of revenge because he would have a real project for France.” Odoxa also notes that 11% of those on the left believe that this return is “a good thing”, while 26% of those on the right believe “it’s pretty bad.”

According to BVA, not surprisingly, three quarters of those on the right, and even 86% of UMP, were convinced by the former head of state when 90% of those on the left feel the opposite sense. Nicolas Sarkozy also collects the largest membership of supporters of the UMP for a candidate in the presidential election of 2017, with 65% (+7 points) when Alain Juppé loses six points (21%) and François Fillon ( – 2 points) and Bruno Le Maire (+ 2 points) collect only 5%. Alain Juppe, however remains the preferred candidate UMP among all French (40%, +2 points), before Nicolas Sarkozy (27%, +5 points), Bruno Le Maire (10%, +1 point) and François Fillon ( 9% – 2 points)

* Surveys conducted over the Internet with a sample of 1,105 French and BVA for 1007 people for Odoxa
